The Sports Network (TSN) premiered in 1984 as a Canadian specialty cable channel and is now the country’s leading English-language sports network. TSN is owed by CTV, a division of Bell Media. Bell Media also operates other TSN-branded properties, including TSN2, TSN Radio 1050, TSN Radio 990, TSN Radio 1290 and two part-time regional feeds, Canadiens on TSN and Jets on TSN.
With the purchase of Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment Ltd., CTV acquired box seats at the Air Canada Centre (ACC). The room, which was also to be used by their sports channel TSN, needed a major makeover to portray and maintain the image of the brand. CTV and TSN wanted an exciting, immersive AV solution that would be completely unique and digitally cutting-edge.
THE ADVANCED SOLUTION
Advanced has been the AV partner to CTV Bell Media for many years and has always delivered the latest and best in AV solutions to the media giant. As a result, when looking to equip the new signature box within ACC, CTV immediately turned to the experts at Advanced as the logical choice. Working closely with both CTV and TSN staff, Advanced designed and installed a unique, L-shaped videowall display deploying state-of-the-art Orion 1 x 5 panels. The unique layout featured 3 screens on one wall and 2 on another to create the L effect.
A 55-inch LCD screen was also installed within the suite to provide additional video display coverage, separate from the videowall. With a Creston room automation and control panel, TSN could now control the content being shown on the all displays, at all times. This dynamic, visually-interesting, state-of-the-art display solution created an environment to effectively showcase the CTV, TSN and Bell Media brands and the client messages they also displayed.
