ADVANCED CREATES MORE THAN 50 ELECTRONIC CLASSROOMS AND ADDITIONAL INTERACTIVE PRESENTATION ENVIRONMENTS FOR CANADA`S PREMIERE ART AND DESIGN UNIVERSITY, OCAD

ABOUT ONTARIO COLLEGE OF ART AND DESIGN (OCAD)

Located in the heart of Toronto and recognized as Canada’s “University of the imagination”, The Ontario College of Art and Design (OCAD) is one of the nation’s leaders in art and design education and research.  OCAD has more depth and breadth in visual arts and design programs than any school of its kind in Canada and offers its students a unique environment that combines hands-on, studio-based learning with critical inquiry and design theory. Principle programs offered at OCAD typically lead to a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) or a Bachelor of Design (BDes).  As of 2009, OCAD also began a series of Masters Programs for the same disciplines.

THE OPPORTUNITY

OCAD sought out the AV integration experts at Advanced to install more than 50 SMART-equipped electronic classrooms, as well as Boardrooms and other meeting facilities based on our long-standing and successful partnership with the University, ongoing since 2004.

THE ADVANCED SOLUTION

Advanced designed and installed integrated AV solutions within 50 classrooms at the OCAD campus in downtown Toronto transforming them into interactive, collaborative learning environments that promoted enhanced understanding, information and idea sharing. A solution based on SMART Technologies, each of the 50 classrooms was now equipped with SMART interactive whiteboards, projectors and screens.  Students and faculty of the premiere art institute could now visually share and discuss design projects onscreen, making annotations and saving annotated files for later review and discussion.

Within the Executive Boardroom of the facility, Advanced installed SMART interactive whiteboards, projector screens, Extron control systems, audio reinforcement and teleconferencing solutions, including SMART Bridgit software, to revolutionize meetings and presentations enabling participants to become fully involved in the critical conversations and decision-making processes of the discussions.

Advanced also installed a complete digital signage solution for the University that ensured important messages and alerts, as well as other information on upcoming events and important registration dates would be broadcast campus-wide.  With the signage solution, students and faculty would always be aware of critical deadlines, security messages and special events.

When all the technology solutions designed and installed by Advanced were completed, the communications facilities within the University were now to a standard that matched Canada’s “imagination University”.
