ABOUT MERCEDES BENZ
Headquartered in Toronto, Ontario Mercedes-Benz Canada (MBC) is responsible for the sales, marketing and service of the 4 brands that form the Mercedes-Benz Group in Canada: Mercedes-Benz, smart, AMG and Maybach.
MBC employs approximately 1,300 people in 19 locations across the country. Through a nationwide network of 13 Mercedes-Benz owned retail operations and 40 authorized dealerships, MBC sold 32,914 vehicles in 2011, the best year ever reported for the Canadian company.
MBC built a large-scale, modern training academy in Mississauga, Ontario nearly double the size of the previous training facility. The new location is equipped with rooms for technical training, sales and after-sales training and a Sprinter bay. Each of these technical areas within the facility needed a unique audiovisual collaboration system to address the specific areas of focus. The new academy increases training capacity capabilities and therefore, an innovative, connected AV solution needed to be found.
THE ADVANCED SOLUTION
To enhance the new training facility, Advanced Inc. installed new state-of-the-art training aids and audio visual solutions. Since the new location has four technician training centres (including a special Sprinter bay) and rooms for sales, product and after sales training, Advanced had to find a way to support each unique space.
Wall-mounted interactive projectors were installed in each of the mechanic training bays, allowing Mercedes educators to annotate on drawings to illustrate a lesson, while students worked on cars in the training bay beyond. The larger sales and after-sales training space was outfitted with a projector and large-format screen to ensure notes and discussion items were clearly visible during lectures and meetings. To assist with sound amplification, Advanced installed an in-ceiling sound system and wireless microphones ensuring training staff and students could easily interact and collaborate effectively.
