ADVANCED INSTALLS SMART ELECTRONIC CLASSROOMS AT TORONTO’S INDEPENDENT GREENWOOD COLLEGE TO PROMOTE COLLABORATIVE LEARNING AND EXPERIENTIAL EDUCATION

ABOUT GREENWOOD COLLEGE

Greenwood College is a co-educational day school located in North-Central Toronto. Established in 2002, the school offers a comprehensive academic program to approximately 350 students attending Grades 7 through 12. The school building, also constructed in 2002, includes 21 classrooms, a gymnasium, indoor climbing wall, art room, digital music room and drama facility. In addition to its urban campus, Greenwood utilizes several outdoor facilities and destinations to deliver its Experiential Education and Outdoor Leadership Programs.

 THE ADVANCED SOLUTION

Advanced has installed virtually all of the audiovisual systems within Greenwood College. Each of the school’s 21 electronic classrooms has been equipped with SMARTBoard interactive whiteboards, ceiling-mounted projectors, equipment racks for DVD/VCR and audio systems. In the school gymnasium, Advanced installed a 200” diagonal, electric screen, a ceiling-mounted projector and a 15” SMART interactive podium to facilitate presenting during large assemblies or meetings. The school is now able to host a number of events where lecturers can offer material in a dynamic, new way to a broad audience.

An NEC 61” plasma monitor, installed in the school’s reception area, is used as an information display for students, parents and staff alike. Advanced equipped the Greenwood student lounge (called The Lodge) with a high-power, ceiling-mounted projector, a 240” diagonal motorized screen and an “array” speaker system to provide the best quality audio within the space. This same room is fully controlled by a Crestron touchpanel control system, ensuring students and staff have the ability to control all the AV components (screen, projector and audio system).  The combined solution ensures a seamless presentation environment and a successful, collaborative learning and working environment.
