Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO) and its Special Operating Agency, the Canadian Coast Guard, deliver programs and services that support sustainable use and development of Canada’s waterways and aquatic resources.

Canada’s fisheries and oceans have played and continue to play an important historic, economic, and cultural role in Canada’s development and growth as a nation. Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO) has the lead federal role in managing Canada’s fisheries and safeguarding its waters.

THE OPPORTUNITY

Fisheries and Oceans Canada required a collaborative meeting solution for their Ottawa office. They were looking for a dynamic idea and design that would allow employees to add interactivity and collaboration into their meeting environments. The DFO wanted an audiovisual partner who could provide not only an innovative solution, but also training on the hardware and software installed.

THE ADVANCED SOLUTION

Advanced worked with the DFO to create a solution that would enhance meetings by engaging the audience and allowing them to participate fully during discussions. To facilitate meetings, Advanced installed SMART Interactive Whiteboards in multiple meeting rooms, which allowed the DFO to share ideas and strategies easily with staff and other departments. With the provision and installation of SMART Interactive Whiteboards on mobile carts, employees were given the opportunity to move data from meeting room to meeting room without having to transfer files and information from different devices.

To maximize collaboration efforts, Advanced installed SMART Meeting Pro Software, which allowed DFO staff to annotate, increase meeting productivity and enhance teamwork. The entire solution allows the DFO team to conduct meetings throughout their office facility, while minimizing costs to the department. To ensure that staff could continue to use the new equipment and software easily and effectively, Advanced conducted on-site professional development training.
