ABOUT CRESTWOOD SCHOOL
Established in 1980, Crestwood School is a co-educational, non-denominational, private, day school providing the highest quality of education to students in Junior Kindergarten through to Grade 6. The school, located in Toronto’s prestigious Bayview / Lawrence / Post Road area is nestled in a picturesque wooded valley and is comprised of several buildings spread over more than 3 acres of land.
THE ADVANCED SOLUTION
When Crestwood School decided to embark on an integrated AV project, they call on the experts at Advanced to design and install a system that met their needs. Advanced has outfitted most of the Crestwood classrooms with SMARTBoard 680 I (Gen 2) interactive whiteboards, complete with integrated projectors and speakers.
In the initial phase of the integration project during 2008, Crestwood installed these collaborative learning systems into 6 classrooms. The response from both faculty and students was so positively overwhelming, the school immediately made plans to install 15 more interactive systems later that same year.
Focused on the younger grade levels, Crestwood students are typically shorter in stature than those in the senior grades or in high school. To make the new technology more accessible to younger children, 5 of the new systems were installed with special counter-balanced, height-adjustable wall mounts. These wall mounts allow the entire SMARTBoard and projector assembly to rise and fall up to 20”, easily accommodating people of different height.
In total, Advanced designed and installed 21 SMART electronic classrooms within the school, providing Crestwood educators and students with the most updated tools that support modern pedagogical practice and engage and immerse students in the learning experience.
