ADVANCED HELPS CIBC’S BRAND MESSAGE TO SOAR ABOVE THE OTHERS

ABOUT CIBC

The Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce, as it is known today, came into being in 1961. The bank was formed through the merger of the Canadian Bank of Commerce and the Imperial Bank of Canada. At the time, they were two of Canada’s largest banks.

CIBC, is one of the Big Five banks in Canada. The bank is headquartered at Commerce Court in Toronto, Ontario.

THE OPPORTUNITY

Our client, a leading Toronto digital design company imagines ways to allow people to interact with brands in physical spaces. They needed a distributor who is equally creative, one with the product, experience and technical know how to help bring their vision to life for banking client CIBC.

Since Advanced could satisfy all of the prerequisites and provide ongoing maintenance, we were the go-to team.

THE ADVANCED SOLUTION

CIBC’s banking presence at Toronto Pearson International Airport needed a boost. The bank wanted to drive more traffic and deliver changing brand messages, 24/7. The airport is a busy
public space so digital signage needed to be prominently placed and delivered via a technology that was equal parts attention getting and reliable.

The area was a beautiful space in Terminal 1, below the airport ceiling, above the newly built branch bank. Sitting high above the branch, the display would be visible from greater distances, delivering maximum impact!

Advanced built an exact replica of the application in our Assessment Centre showroom to ensure we had every detail — technical, structural and aesthetic — covered. This way, we could help the client choose the technology best suited to the application.

We also invited CIBC’s ad agency into our facility, so that they could perfect their customized content for the display. We brought a structural engineer into the project to measure infrastructure strength in the airport’s ceiling.

The client chose a Leyard 6mm pixel-pitch LED display. Thin and lightweight, it’s ideal in a hanging application. Pixels can be calibrated individually to ensure uniform colour and brightness — essential to reproducing CIBC’s brand colours with perfect consistency. In the busy airport environment, the display views well at all angles as a continuous surface, with no seams. It’s also an environmentally friendly, energy-conscious power-supply design … important elements for a public space and a conscientious brand.
